TPACK Stories Symposium 2013: Williamsburg, Virginia USA
WHAT, WHEN & WHERE:
The first-ever TPACK Stories Symposium will take place on July 14, 15 & 16, 2013 in the School of Education at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, USA. The symposium will provide opportunities for K-12 professional development (PD) providers in schools and school districts/divisions/boards who use TPACK to frame PD to share with each other how and why they use TPACK, and to learn more about how TPACK-framed professional development can be designed and offered.
WHO:
Through the generosity of a faculty award made possible by W&M alum Joseph J. Plumeri, we are able to provide lodging, food (breakfast & lunch), conference materials, and a small honorarium ($150 US) to each of 16 participants--8 teams of 2 from each of eight schools or districts/divisions/boards. We will use applicants' responses to the questions on the application form to help us to select the 16 symposium participants.
HOW:
Participants must fund their travel to and from Williamsburg, Virginia, arriving by 5 pm on Sunday, July 14h and participating in full-day sessions (8:30 am - 4 pm) on both Monday, July 15th and Tuesday, July 16th. Each school-or-district 2-person team will be asked to prepare and present an ~18-minute TPACK Story (similar to a TED Talk) about TPACK-framed professional development in their school/district during the symposium, then lead a discussion about it with the other symposium participants. All TPACK Stories shared during the symposium will be videotaped, edited, then posted (with permission) on the tpackstories.org Web site, with full attribution given to the team members and their schools/districts.
DEADLINES:
Applications are due on Saturday, June 8, 2013. We will send notifications to all applicants, re: symposium participation, by June 11th via email. Participation must be confirmed via return email by June 13th.
